Yeah this is actually pretty much exactly what is going on. It’s why anti-oxidants are such a big deal. Bonus fact: oxygen oxidizes stuff in your cells or, in other words, it’s not toxic, just setting you on fire

very very slowly.

What if there are aliens out there but they subsist on entirely different substances and they’re just scared as shit of us and our crazy ass hell planet? Once in a while some alien anthropologist type suggests checking out the people on this inhabited planet out towards the galaxy’s edge. The other aliens just look at the naive academic with horror. No!! We do not go to that world. That is where the DEATH BREATHERS live. They recreationally consume poisons and are more or less composed of biological fire. Their atmosphere is made of rocket fuel. We must leave the DEATH BREATHERS in peace. Do not go there. Do not.

A slight update.

Good morning!

I haven’t been updating this nearly as often as I should or would like to, but to be perfectly honest, I’ve just been a bit too busy. In the past few months I’ve been trucking back and forth from Houston, to Maine, to Chicago, Miami, the Gulf coast, and a tiny bit here in good ol’ St. Augustine.

A super abbreviated highlight reel below.

 

There are a little over 1000 shots from that evening, that I won’t force anyone to check out (…yet). Crazy nice folk, a private island resort on the Gulf, delicious food, and atmosphere for days. I’d say I couldn’t ask for more, but we also scored some chest-high waves in Cape Haze, that is a severe rarity to say the least. 

Above photo: My first wedding shot in or near Miami. Fantastically fun times. A smaller gathering with waterfalls, family from all over the country, specialty home crafted beers, accidental wedding party crashers, and I even shot some expired film to mix it up a bit. More coming soon.

Above photos. Another smaller gathering at Castle Otttis in St. Augustine/Vilano. Always a superb venue, again a perfect match for the couple I believe. The lighting and textures available - insane. Fun fact, I think technically the castle and I are the same age.

Too much to elaborate on for the last 3 posted at the moment. Another future. But in the mean time for the Old Crow Medicine Show fans out there - when we were setting up (I mean, no, that was a totally natural moment) the farm shot I couldn’t help but think to myself “Even though you’re wearing those uptown high heels.. I can tell from your giant step you’ve been walking through the cotton (in this case potato) fields.”.

Whetherman, a quick take.

xplanation mostly unneeded. Whetherman, aka Nicholas Williams, was kind enough to meet up during the busy weekend of Magnolia Fest - out at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida.  
The goal was simple - meet up with the artist, one take, two cameras. Locations were always decided on the spot, with whoever was around as the audience. A tiny variable, allowing infinite possibilities.
I’d heard Whetherman perform many years ago, but unfortunately hadn’t kept up with his music over the time. I recall the show being super fun - but rather different from his current iteration. To say the least, I was blown away to see/hear what he’s evolved towards. Without making a music review - I leave you with a stripped down, simplified performance of his original “The Orchard” and a cover of Jackson Browne’s “These Days”.

Short surf videos.

Hey! Longtime no post. An update. It’s wedding season! Full bloom. 

To keep sanity during such a season, you have to mix it up. For me, that’s been playing with video. I’ve been surfing for 14 years now, and rode a boogey/bodyboard for many years before that. I probably should be way better by now - but, that’s another story.

Anywho, after acquiring a waterhousing I’ve been working on surf photography/videography, mostly because it’s fun. Too much fun. Almost as fun as actually surfing sometimes! That part of the website will be updated soon enough, when I get a bit more free time. (Unrelated, Eastern Surf Magazine published one of my first attempts at it!  Fantastic magazine and people). Getting side tracked again. 2 or 3 days ago, I filmed local surfer Amanda Giberson for a few minutes - who despite riding mediocre St. Augustine waves, per usual turned them into something worth watching. I quickly edited those few waves together to “Ir Para Llegar” by Ishto Juevez , just to see how it’d all look. Uploaded it to vimeo for a few friends to watch - and the response was amazing. Strangers on the internet have played it several hundred times, sharing it over 60. Then I found out the spanish website Valenciasurf.com also picked it up and featured it on their homepage - which made me realize, “maybe someone who’d browse this action packed blog would like to see…”.
